This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you whether either route is appropriate for your skin, your health or your circumstances.

No outcome is guaranteed

No treatment can be guaranteed. Texture, pigment and scarring respond differently in different people, a course may need more sessions than planned, and a result is judged honestly months later rather than in the first weeks.

Pigment change is a real risk

Resurfacing that removes the surface layer can leave the new skin a different colour from the skin around it, and that change may improve slowly, improve partly, or not improve. It is the reason a test area is sometimes treated first, and it is discussed before treatment rather than after.

Neither route removes a scar

Both routes can improve the appearance of a scar and neither removes one. A scar tethered to deeper tissue may need a different procedure first or instead, and no clinician can promise that a scar will be invisible.
